From the San Diego area:

take I-8 east to State Hwy 79 north, and follow the 79 until you see the lake. Once you leave I-8 you are about 25 minutes away.

​From the Los Angeles area:

take I-405 south until it becomes I-5 south. Continue on I-5 south to I-8 east. I-8 east to Hwy 79 north until you come to the lake. Once you leave I-8 you are about 25 minutes away.

​The lake is 9 miles south of the town of Julian.
